Webcast Technician (Full-Time or Contract)

The Webcast Technician plays an integral role in Wellington’s growing virtual experience service. They should be organized, detailed and thrive in fast-paced environments.  In-the-moment problem solving skills are crucial. Interfacing virtually with high level executives will occur frequently, so they should also be calm under pressure.

The Webcast Technician will act as the audio-visual technician on each webcasting session to produce pre-recorded, live or simulive virtual events. For each assigned session, they will review preliminary details to understand structure. They will then log in to the webcasting platform, ensure proper set-up and greet the speaker and clients as they arrive into the webcast. After all parties have logged into the session, the technician will run through a series of audio and visual checks, trouble-shooting issues along the way. After a full tech check, the technician will begin the session by either pre-recording or live streaming the content. Afterwards, they will make any necessary video cuts and prepare the final file for upload.

Level of experience:

  • 1-3 years of applicable experience in production and/or streaming. Proficient in webcasting processes and ability to learn company platforms.

Expectations:

  • Follow webcasting schedule and report promptly to each assigned session.
  • Run each webcasting session according to established processes and checklists.
  • Provide basic webcast technical support which may include diagnosing and troubleshooting web browsers, bandwidth, and other internet-related issues.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service throughout each session to speakers and clients.
  • Test audio and video sources and change sources throughout webcast as needed.
  • Basic video editing/cutting after each session.
  • Communicate any questions or issues with Project Manager.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of webcasting processes.
  • Flexible work hours as necessary to accommodate global webcast events.
  • Take active role in staff meetings and trainings.

Characteristics:

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent proactive communication skills
    • Multi-tasker with ability to prioritize and change directions quickly
    • Resourceful, creative problem-solver who will find answers to questions and work calmly under pressure
    • Able to work with a variety of personalities, both in providing and receiving direction
    • Extremely high level of customer service
